Sketching Animal Portraits – 5 Exercises to Help You 'See Like an Artist': In this course, we'll learn the art of sketching animals from a reference. Portraits are always my favorite subjects to sketch and paint, whether animal or human. Capturing what you are seeing on your paper is an excellent skill. If you're keen to learn specific techniques to improve your sketching technique, I hope you'll attend this workshop.
This class will teach:
- How to determine angles and proportions
- We'll try this method by drawing sketches of two animals.
- We'll sketch using different exercises/techniques, like sketching upside down and sketching with paint (you can use graphite if you don't wish to use paint)
- We aim to enhance our ability to look at an object and then write what we observe onto paper.
This class isn't about perfection - we're here to enjoy ourselves!
