Blender – Geosim | Photorealistic Planets: GeoSim is an add-on that lets you create photorealistic, real-time, customizable planets within seconds. With a robust and easy-to-use shader, node group GeoSim is essential for a 3D artist who wants to create space/sci-fi-fi-based scenes.
Limitations/Things to be aware of:
- The surface of the planet does react to any other light sources beyond the central GeoSim sun
- Shadows cast by objects cannot be cast on or reflect light GeoSim planets
New Changes:
- Indirect lighting is added.
- Clouds are now casting shadows on the sky.
- The new "sharpness" control for clouds.
- Specular reflections now employ the GGX reflection model.
- The atmosphere now supports the scattering of mie.
- Parallax displacement optimized.
- New control of strength for the emissive texture.
- The orthographic view is now fully supported
- Field depth is now being supported
- Planets cast precise shadows that are tinted
Some great features of Blender – Geosim | Photorealistic Planets:
- Physically Based Volumetric Rendering - Utilizing various sophisticated methods, GeoSim can create photorealistic planetariums as much more rapid and high-quality as Cycles or Eevee. The attributes like density, thickness, and color can all be controlled using GeoSim's shader. GeoSim shader.
- Image-based Clouds - To give you an additional layer of realism, GeoSim comes with real-time shadow-casting clouds. Plug in your image/procedural texture, and the shader will transform it into semi-3D volumetric clouds.
- Full Texture Support - GeoSim is wholly equipped to manage all necessary texture types, such as albedo specular, roughness, standard, and emission. The entire image texture can be easily accessed via A separate node group, which allows them to be altered at any time.
