The Adobe Caslon Pro Font Family is based on the historic typefaces of William Caslon, dating back to 1722. Caslon's work was based on seventeenth-century Dutch old-style fonts and came to represent the best of both practical and beautiful typographic work in England. Caslon's type was also very popular in America; Benjamin Franklin frequently used it, and it's said that the original drafts of the American Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were printed using Caslon.
