Aescripts - Unmult:
The UnMult plug-in allows effects to be composited better within a scene. An ideal plug-in used for motion graphics and editing within After Effects, it essentially creates an alpha channel for any light effect used in post-production. By using the Normal transfer mode, the effect can be applied to footage where the RGB channels have been un-premultiplied, and then the alpha channel is adjusted afterwards.
Where would you use this plug-in? UnMult works best with light effects rendered on a black solid background with an opaque alpha channel, think lens flares. While the effect appears to the eye after application of UnMult, truly, the pixel values are changed to represent a semi-transparent alpha to give depth to the lighting effect when rendering with other scenes.
