Classic Maythen was made as an addition to Excelsior typeface and, besides regular, bold weight, contains Slant, Narrow, and Extra from the DeskLabel family, all put in one ClearType font. This may seem like a mistake, but my bold letters are softer with Western-style serif typefaces, displacing a modern slab serif and elegant forms set. In Maythen, the rigid contours and angles yield softer curves, enhancing the sense of rhythm.
