The resonance of a Skull Snaps "It's A New Day" snare, for instance, evokes memories of joyous events, parties, barbecues, and freestyle sessions with friends. Prismatik Drums aims to capture these signature drum one-shots, focusing on infusing them with the rich sound textures of the 70s and 60s. Through techniques like tape saturation, vintage tube heat, vinyl crackles, noise, compression, and vintage gear distortion, each drum sound carries an intricate sonic character.
My objective with Prismatik Drums was to rejuvenate these authentic Boom Bap drums by layering and melding various sounds. The process involved utilizing hall reverbs, echo chambers, plates, lush string room tones, bit crushing, filtering, distortion, EQ'ing, compression, and space exploration, among other techniques. The result is modified versions of the original one-shots that breathe new life into the classic Boom Bap drum sounds.
Curated and processed by Alpha Centori, this drum kit boasts over 325 one-shots, encompassing kicks, snares, hi-hats, open hats, loops, bongos, tambourines, drum fills, and sound effects.
