
Learn Spark AR for Surface Pattern Designers: Hi! I'm Jen Lezan, an illustrator, graphic designer, and educator based in the Midwest and managing the Bella and Sophia Creative studio. I also run an Esty shop alongside my work as a teacher and freelancer; I am constantly searching for new and exciting ways to show my work as an illustrator - particularly in my design work for surface patterns. Thinking of new and creative ways to showcase my work via social networks, I immediately thought of Instagram stories and the fantastic backgrounds I saw, thanks to the entertaining AR features. If you're unfamiliar with AR, it is an acronym for Augmented Reality. I thought this would be the ideal way to enjoy my work in a marketing way and to give them away to others. In this class, we'll learn how to accomplish this with each other. We will learn to utilize Spark AR studio to take our designs on surface patterns into the realm of digital art by creating an image filter for the background that can be uploaded to Facebook or Instagram to be used in stories.
What is the class about
In this course, you will learn to create a collection of surface patterns with Affinity Designer on the iPad and with the Spark AR studio to translate these into background filters that can be used in Instagram stories or your stories on FB. The course will cover the fundamentals of creating repeats using affinity designer and creating an image that can be uploaded to Spark AR Studio. Then, we'll make a background that can be used on Instagram stories as a promotion tool to show off your work on patterns or surfaces. Illustrations.
A couple of techniques that students will acquire
You will be taught how to design simple repeat patterns in Affinity Designer for iPad. We'll begin with the basics of understanding the tools and functions of the Affinity workspace. Then, we will build out our basic pattern. Learn how to utilize the transform tool and the brushes to design basic patterns that can be applied to your backgrounds. We will then export our images and load these to Spark AR studio to walk through the procedure to create an AR background. We will then export the image to use. Ultimately, we will explain how to load the file to review it in Spark AR Hub. Spark AR Hub so you can make the files live.
All you require to take this class is an iPad, the Affinity Designer application and your computer or laptop with Spark AR Studio downloaded onto it. Be sure to set up a Facebook account and an Instagram account to take a test. I hope you'll enjoy the course, and let's begin creating!
