"Introduction to Quilt Design" will walk you through creating your quilt design mockup using Adobe Illustrator. If you do not already have Adobe Illustrator, no problem. And I'll teach you how to apply these ideas using graph paper and pencil.
We will explore the fundamental structure of a quilt, create several of the most commonly used quilt blocks, and discuss the implications of the color of fabric, contrast, and scale of pattern as well as develop the skills and tools you require to bring your ideas together to create an attractive quilt that you are amazed by.
This class will help you discover how to:
- Basic quilt blocks can be created in Adobe Illustrator (or on graph paper)
- Make a quilt compatible with traditional design or methods ... but also one that is a blunder against the rules!
- Be sure to choose the right colors and patterns
- Make a mockup of your quilt for use in the portfolio
- Find a quilt or pattern writer to transform your quilt design even if you don't intend to sew it yourself.
At the end of this course, you'll have a quilt design sketch for your portfolio or to make a template to use to design an original quilt. This class is designed for designers of surface patterns interested in learning to design their quilt mockups and quilters looking to design their quilts.
