The Foundry MODO 16.1v2 (WIN): Modo 16.0 offers a variety of new features and enhancements that offer the tools you need to build more efficiently. From the powerful and flexible Wrap Effector and the effective automatic baking capabilities offered by Texture Cache, Modo enables efficient workflows that quickly get the desired results.
What's New in Modo 16.1?
Expand the possibilities of your creativity by using Modo 16.1. Improve the modeling workflow, get greater control over how shapes are made and easily create intricate 3D forms from curvatures, and benefit from faster-than-ever rendering.
Add intricate details to your Model using Planar Workflows for Decals.
In Modo 16.1 Modo 16.1, you can layer images on the Model's surface. By using Planar Decals, placing images on 3D surfaces is possible without distortion and without needing to modify the UVs of the surface. Based on game workflows, The Planar Decal Mesh Op allows users to apply planar decals as presets onto the Model's surface and show you how the decal will appear when applied in the game.
Make Seams to models with intersecting Geometry by Using Seam Decals.
It is now easier to model without creating seams on models. Modo 16.1 introduces Seam Decals, a feature that lets users draw a curve onto any surface and then produce an image-based seam, which gives the appearance of a complex model without needing to model the details. Its game-inspired interface, MeshOp, can be used to draw seams. MeshOp is a tool that can be utilized by artists working on complex surface models with lots of panels and online.
Bright and Beautiful Advanced Viewport
Learn about Curve Forms at a glance with Curvature Shading.
The latest Modo 16, the Modo 16 series, brings greater clarity thanks to the viewport feature that uses Curvature Shading. It's now simpler for artists to understand their designs because Curvature Shading enhances the brightness of the high areas while darkening the low areas. To provide a more accurate model, the feature could be turned to turn it on for any 3D designer or artist.
Improved Real-Time Visualization in the Advanced Viewport
Since Modo 16.1 Modo 16.1, the enhancements in the quality that have been made to Advanced Viewport, the quality improvements of Advanced Viewport make it a superior choice over the usual default viewport. The transparency quality has been significantly enhanced, and users can now enjoy higher performance. With this Advanced Viewport feature, artists can get better real-time transparency visualization.
Non-interrupted Viewport Modeling using Improved Projector Planar
When you project a planar texture onto a surface, Viewport functionality will not be affected. This is why Modo 16.1, Artists will benefit from a dramatic improvement in the performance of planar projections that allow a cursive workflow with no interruptions. Users are now better informed about the process of modeling.
Improve Viewport Response Times Using the Light Illumination Toggle
The placement of multiple lights within the same scene won't cause a delay. This is why in Modo 16.1, the user can benefit from the newly added Viewport Light Illumination Toggle. This option lets users see lights without having them emit light onto a scene. You can turn off all lights without worrying about objects lit in the Viewport.
Renders Faster using the math Acceleration
More efficient rendering with math using NVIDIA CUDA GPU support
Don't wait to render your image with the launch of NVIDIA CUDA GPU rendering. It is available in Modo 16.1. This feature brings GPU processing to the shading part of mPath, which helps speed up rendering. So, you can spend less time waiting for rendering and experience speedier rendering.
Higher Quality Rendering and Speed when using Metal for macOS
For anyone who uses Apple hardware Modo 16.1 offers good news, improved support, and speedier rendering. In addition, with Modo 16's Metal Ray Tracing support for macOS, users can anticipate speed improvements of between 20 and 100 percent compared to Foundry SSE. The second version from Modo 16 series brings us an inch closer to support for the M1 as well as M2 Macs fully.
Add Materials to Models Without Creating UVs Using Triplanar Projection
Adding materials to a surface is no longer required for UVs. In Modo 16.1, We're introducing Triplanar Texturing, a feature that overlays textures on the surface from different angles. When the textures overlap, Triplanar Texturing blurs and blends them, creating a uniform texture map on the entire surface. Artists can easily add material to an intricate surface without worrying about making UVs.
Switch Tools Instantly and Model Intuitively Using Poly Haul
Let the tedious modeling work go, and welcome automation! Modo 16.1 introduces artists to Poly Haul, a collection of popular modeling tools that let artists seamlessly change between various options without closing the tool to select another. This feature is handy for inset bevels and will automatically eliminate the geometry that the bevel intersects.
Easy Curve Definition Using the upgraded Bezier Tool
Get more control over the forms that can be created by using curves in Modo 16.1. This version brings several improvements to this Bezier tool. Keys for shortcuts are aligned with the Adobe Illustrator shortcut keys, making Modo workflows easier for users to understand. Additionally, the handles will be aligned to the surface when limiting a Bezier curve to an area. The new tangent controls let designers better define how a curve flows from or into the control point.
Target Retopology is More Effective by Using Background Constraints
Utilize Background Constraints efficiently by utilizing this new feature in Modo 16.1. With the addition of the Target Item, users can use Background Constraints to make all their scenes visible and define only one object to restrict. Artworkers can perform better when working in the context of their work by retopologizing just an element in the image.
Some great features of The Foundry MODO:
- Switch off and enable Snapping Modes easily: Modo's snapping system is robust and diverse. Users can use snapping simultaneously to a variety of components and objects. Sometimes, you need to snap to a single kind of item, and it requires you to turn off multiple components. Then, you can utilize the Alt-click to select one kind of component to snap to, and other types will be turned off.
- Rhino 7 Import and Export Workflows: Modo has supported native export and import from Rhino 5 .3DM files for several years. Rhino 7 contains many new features for which we currently accept direct mappings, such as subdivision surfaces that crease, curves, points/point clouds, and meshes.
- Measure Distances Accurately in Procedural Scenes: Accurate measurement tools are essential to creating assets and visualizations. The Ruler/Grid MeshOp facilitates designers in setting up Modo's procedural modeling system.
- Perform repetitive tasks quickly using Conditional Commands: When an artist designs a workflow that follows a sequence of actions often repeated. Modo's conditional commands 16.0 allows users to define an event that instantly triggers a specific command. For example, an artist observes that they only use the tool to bevel the vertex when they enter the vertex state. They can then utilize conditional commands to inform Modo, "Every time I click on vertex mode, activate the vertex bevel tool for me." This also simplifies the user's customization, which has been a staple of Modo.
- Group Masks: Modo's Shader Tree is a powerful and familiar shader based on stacks and can be used innovatively. It's been improved to represent blending modes and opacity visually. Groups can now display a graph to explain how a group masks its contents. The group's contents can now be automatically reorganized using effects. With these improvements, the shader tree has become more readable than before.
- Create a Blank UV Map Whenever the Mesh Item is Added: Modo 16.0 includes a new feature that lets you create a blank UV map every time an element of a mesh is created by default.
